Eye Floaters No More! New (Natural) Eye Floaters Treatment Research | Doctor Eye Health


so seeing eye floaters can be very
bothersome and you may know them as those drifting little spots or cobwebs
in your vision and in this video I’m going to be reviewing some new research
on a natural eye floaters remedy let’s take a look hello and welcome this is
dr. Allen here from the dr. eye health show helping you learn all about the

reviewing some new research on a natural cure for eye floaters and no I am NOT
just holding on to this pineapple just for fun there’s actually reason for it
and we’ll get to that soon also if you actually want to read the research
yourself I’ll include a link to the article along with some extra a health
tip educational videos and resources in the description below so chances are if
you’re watching this video you have already experienced eye floaters in some
form you know them as those little drifting spots in your vision and they
can be really annoying for some people or some people they are just tiny little
black or white spots that drift across your vision when looking at something
like a computer screen or maybe when you’re going outside and looking up at a
gray sky or something like that you might see those little drifting spots
for other people they look like giant cobwebs and for some people who have
actually developed what is called a posterior vitreous detachment or a PVD
then these little floaters can actually be quite large and very bothersome and
can even obstruct vision now I’m not going to go too much into exactly what
these floaters are I have covered that in other videos and I’ll include a link
to the entire video playlist about floaters up here in the YouTube card up
above as well as the description below if you want to go back and check that
out now floaters are so extremely common it’s rare that I’ll ever have a day in
the eye clinic where I won’t see a floater at least discussed floaters in
some fashion historically we haven’t really had good ways to get rid of
floaters other than what’s called a vitrectomy where they removed the gel
inside the eye a YAG laser vitriolysis where we can actually use a laser to zap
away the floaters inside the eye or the ever-famous just waiting and monitoring
and hoping the floaters resolve on their own and guess for most people after they
first start experiencing floaters they do usually neuro adapt and just kind of
get used to these floaters in their eyes but I have actually had a lot
people asked me if there was some form of a natural cure for floaters whether
it could be a supplement they could take or something they could change in their
diet to actually help these floaters resolved and honestly I have never
really had a good answer for this until more recently there’s a cool study I
want to share in April of 2019 a pilot study was published in the Journal of
American science describing the pharmalogic vitrolysis of vitreous
floaters with a three-month supplement of pineapple. YUM, but wait
pineapple well the whole idea of this study was based on that pineapple
actually has a protease or enzyme called bromelain and if you’re an author of
this study or you think you know a lot about this substance then please go
ahead and comment the section below because I’m not exactly sure how to say
this correctly but bromelain is supposed to be an enzyme that is believed to help
really dissolve the aggregating collagen that creates these floaters inside the
vitreous gel inside the eye in the first place so in this research what do they
do and what do they find out in this study they took 388 participants and
separated them into two different branches of the study I do want to point
out that 388 individuals in this study is a pretty small sample size in really
large scale studies that a lot of medical real facts and treatment is
based off of our from large-scale repeatable studies but for this one at
least they did do a really good job of vetting which participants or in the
study these were actually individuals who actually had to have a dilated eye
exam they observed that they had at least had one or multiple different
floaters these individuals developed these floaters and had been stable for
at least six months and they didn’t develop them due to trauma or surgery
and they didn’t have any other real serious medical issues such as diabetes
high blood pressure or some form of uveitis or inflammation in their eye not
only did they record the presence of floaters through a dilated eye exam with
an eye care professional but they actually measured them objectively with
a bee scan ultrasound of the eye as well as with an optical coherence tomography
or an OCT which actually allows us to actually physically see the separation
of the vitreous interface from the retina inside the eye it’s pretty cool
now remember there are two branches to this study in the first branch so they
actually took a hundred and ninety people and they separated them in
two individual groups a hundred and twenty and these people only had one
single floater inside the eye while the other 70 participants had at least
multiple or at least two different floaters inside the eyes then they took
these two groups and they actually fed them slices of pineapple and the
pineapple had to be measured out to be about a hundred and 120 grams of
pineapple and they actually fed them two slices every single day after lunch for
90 days and so after three months they then actually measured where all the
floaters were and these were the results they actually found significant
improvement in both groups this first group with only one floor about 120
people that actually decreased to only 35 individuals with floaters after the
three months and then in the group with multiple floaters actually went from
about 70 individual cases down to only about 19 cases honestly I think that’s
pretty incredible now get this because I find this part to
be very interesting in the second branch of the study they actually took 198
individuals really about 66 people into three different groups first group was
only a low amount of pineapple where they served just one slice of
pineapple a day this medium group of pineapple eaters which was two slices of
pineapple a day and then a large amount of pineapple served which was three such
as a pineapple a day again 66 people and each one of these groups the no real
count of how many Florida’s they had at least one again each slice of pineapple
is about 100-120 grams and they served them every single day for 3 months and
the results were as follows and the first group was people only taking one
slice of pineapple a day for 3 months after the 3 month period they actually
had a 55 percent improvement so 55 percent of the cases of those 66
individuals actually had improvement in their floaters the people who are taking
2 slices of pineapple a day had about a 2/3 of cases in proof and the people
taking 3 slices of pineapple a day 75% of the cases of those 66 individuals
actually had improvement and what’s special about this branch of the study
is that it showed that it was dose dependent meaning that individuals who
were being treated with more pineapple actually ultimately had better
resolution of their floaters now certainly the study was not perfect even
the authors addressed some of the faults in their
own study I know when I was reading the study I actually had some questions
about some of the math that they did overall I do find that their actual
methods as well as their intro and discussion section of the actual study
was very informative and again if you were really science he or you just want
to know more about this stuff I again have included that link in the
description below now wait before you start running off to
the grocery store and start loading your cart full of loads and loads of
pineapples as a few safety things we really should talk about now remember
this whole study was really about testing whether pineapple and the enzyme
bromelain which is inside the pineapple actually helps reduce floaters but it’s
important to remember that bromelain has never been actually F proven to be
effective at treating any disease and has not been approved by the US FDA for
treatment of any sort of disorder now if you read the research they actually did
address that bromelain is available in a powder cream and tablet form however for
this study they specifically used pineapple and they cut it horizontally
because bromelain is actually included more in the stem as well as the flesh of
the pineapple now I’m not sure if you’ve ever eaten pineapple before but most of
the time whenever I see pineapple made the core is usually not eaten in fact
it’s usually sliced off and removed but here in the study they said to cut it
horizontally which honestly I have no idea what that means if I’m cutting it
this way or am I supposed to be cutting it this way I’m not really sure also a
hundred grams forgive me for being from the US but usually people don’t have any
way to measure actual grams in the kitchen unless there may be a pharmacist
or perhaps you do because you’re just a big fan of the great british bacon
competition either way I actually did measure it out about 100 grams is equal
to about a half a cup of pineapple but hey if you actually have any tips for me
and how it kind of pineapple go ahead and comment in the section below let me
know because I need some help if you think there’s somebody who’s gonna go
out now and eat lots of pineapple every day do keep in mind that some people are
allergic to bromelain and pineapple in general certainly something you don’t
want to be doing all the time I do also believe that pineapple is very
acidic can can actually affect your taste buds as well as other problems
with your gums and teeth also keep in mind if you are a diabetic or very
sensitive to high sugar foods pineapple has a lot of sugar in it and that’s
actually one of the reasons why in the study they limited the maximum amount of
pineapple to be eaten was only three pieces a day but again this study was
not perfect I do hope however that this opens up more avenues for
research with more participants and that maybe will at one point have a
medication or at least some sort of actual cure for floaters from Mother
Nature so last question of the day have you

  1. My eye floaters always improve, they always go away with time. Are they then not actually floaters? What is it floating in my field of vision for a few hours and then disappearing?

  3. What about people with bromelaine intolerance? I love pineapple, but it's unrequited; must be cooked or canned for me to be able to eat it (which defeats the purpose of pineapple vs. floaters)… 😕

  4. a cure for something that is natural occurring? eye floaters are you seeing the nerves reflecting against your cornea. it is natural and if you do not see them then you are destroying nerves in your eyes that you need. every human in this world has eye floaters you are born this way. you make up big names for it and act like it is a condition so you can make a profit from the scare you are trying to create. you are not even a real doctor, is odd I cant find your name in the registry of credited doctors. show us you diploma and credentials and show us the credited study that eye floaters are not naturally occurring and normal.
    you sir are a fear monger and only trying to make a buck from people thinking seeing eye floaters is bad and need to be cured. when in fact everyone sees them and it is normal part of human biology.

  6. simple solution: fast intermittently; quit eating pork, lobster, catfish, shark, dogmeat, horsemeat, catmeat and rodents. Oh, okay, I know, that's a tough one but it is a solution. Now gird up your loins and start being common-sense adults.

Tip: Before we all get drunk on scientific research & its (financially larger N biased) methodology when “reading the literature” why not just put all those complaining patients on pineapple twice a day for a few months? You’ll know the result clinically faster from experiential learning. Any experienced fruitarian will tell you to simply: 1. twist the top off. 2. Cut the very top & bottom off so it will stand up square. 3. Cut the rind off top to bottom and juice the tougher core after top down vertical slicing. No pills or supplements to buy or take either.

  8. I got an eye floater that is a microscopic worm. And I'm not talking about a worm in the corner. I mean one floating inside the vitreous itself, and actually appears to eat the floaters. It has a split tail. Has a split tongue. Center body bend, even a head that appears to have an eye. Changes and moves around all the time, and is never is a single position. NO ONE I've ever talked to knows what it is. It is a parasitic worm, microscopic.

  9. Why not canned Pineapple? It is a lot easier to find then fresh Pineapple. The only permanent way to eliminate Floaters is to drain the vitreous. I had that done 2 years ago when I had a detach't retina repaired. So far no floaters in that eye since then, but my other eye is loaded with them.

  10. FAKE! As a scientist who suffers from floaters, I just read the paper. I would NOT trust this paper. Unreliable authors publishing on a shady journal, plus there is ton of conflict of interests in it. Methods is sloppy and experiment design is unscientific (there is not even a control group). I love pineapples but I wouldn't give it any hope in curing floaters.

  11. Which of the researchers had $10,000. or more appear in their personal bank account, from the Pineapple Growers Association? Listen, a real clinical test would have been injected not digested. When university researchers played with one of my eyes, I got 30 injections over a 30 month time span.

The medicine is rather nice tasting AND has a track record of being SAFE in sensible (~100g, Will up it ~200g if no progress in 3 months) doses. Will let you know the outcome of my unscientific experiment OR of improvement earlier.

  14. people with connective tissue disorders also tend to have more floaters. I have lots of them and they do interfere this my sight. I have Ehlers-Danlos Hypermobility disorder. This means that some of the collagen my body makes is faulty and breaks instead of stretching or doesnt spring back. Like an overstretched elastic. I also have Epidermolysis Bullosa which is another connective tissue disorder. People sometimes refer to us as having butterfly skin because out skin is very fragile and blisters easily. My disorders are not too bad considering how bad off some people are, and neither of these disorders are as rare as doctors think. They are just not trained to pick up the symptoms so we go diagnosed for most of our lives not knowing why things happen to us. In my case I was 53 when I was finally diagnosed. I kinda doubt pineapple will help me and I cant eat it anyway due to the acid content. It is also a migraine trigger for me. If they came out with something that I could take that would contain just the ingredient (bromelain) that could go past the stomach into the intestines then Id give it a try.

Thank you very much for the above talk on pineapples FOR getting rid of floaters 'before' your eyes – I usually have floaters in my eyes & incidentally eat pineapple slices / chunks in juice too – fortunately , these pineapple slices & chunks in juice are available in tins for just 0.99 cents at ALL ALDI Stores – so, youtubers could benefit from these to get rid of floaters in their eyes !!!

  16. I have tried bromelian therapy (pineapple enzyme) for 120 days – but it doesn't work at all. I have taken 500 mg bromelain pills on an empty stomach…no results at all.
    Yes, the study looks legit – I have read it 2x from cover to cover – but the study and the reality is a different thing.
    BTW – taking pineapple is quiet difficult (it has a very specific taste that someone like me most probably will not like) – and secondly, those slices will contain only 40-60 mg of bromelain in it (which is very low dosage).
    Other pineapple ingredients could not have any effects on reducing eye-floaters – sugar will not be helpful at all..
    In my case – and by reading many other real people testimonies – this pineapple therapy is not a way to go…

  17. I put a steak in ground up pineapple to tenderize it. The steak was dissolving. It cooked up as tender as can be – if you were ok with a pineapple flavored steak.

Thanks for the info but in my opinion it would be awesome if you and others would insert a disclaimer at the beginning of your vids, something like "It may seem like I am an individual but I don't support anything unless my god … the government says it's approved." Please understand it was not NASA that invented rockets, it was 2 guys in their garage, not to mention the Wright bros,, computers … not gov't, etc. When ordinary people come up with what some may believe to be crazy, maybe expand YOUR thinking. For instance, there is an area in the mid east, a tribe, that eats a fruit with small amounts of arsenic, of which no one in tribe has had cancer – ever. Fact based, yes, scientific community backed, no. But I'm not sure our gov't is serious about curing ANYTHING. Too much money to be made with painkillers, hiding the fact that patient is near death.

I had multiple floaters (about 3 – 4 black ones per eye) and a week ago I cut out artificially sweetened carbonated drinks like Red Bull and Coke, added Omega 3, Multivitamins and Iron Complex more vegetables and less meat to my diet and noticed that I can't find the floaters anymore, well only one faint grey one per eye – yes, after one week! I did this due to a prostate health scare and changed my diet. I also cut out alcohol spirits and added beer. Maybe someone could tell me which of these changes helped my problem.

  21. I've had floaters for over 30 years and have always been told to not be concerned. I have one floater that rarely appears but it seems "animated" when it does appear. I don't understand that one…

    I hope the bromelain treatment pans out…!

  23. excellent news.. i was just about to slaughter a pineapple.

    ur pineapple specimen there is very light, looks to be unripe and very sour, a shitty job for your palette. Leave it in the fruitbowl until going soft and smelling sweet, maybe even a little mold on the skin. Grab a central leaf and if it pulls out easily it's ripe. There again there may exist more of the enzyme in the less ripe pineapple, you'd need to consult on that. If you make a pineapple eyewash from the juice you can drink it afterwards or put it in your sweet and sour sauce, with vinegar, but not with your eyeballs, which don't taste all that nice so better leave them in their sockets.

  24. Bromelaine is highly anti inflammatory and it has been used for decades in supplement form (capsules) to treat cellulite in women. I used it for nearly a year and had significant results, so I know first hand it does work. I didn't know it would be useful for eye floaters, but I didn't have them then anyway.   26. Not mentioned is that bromelain is heat sensitive. Therefore, canned pineapple is useless for deriving bromelain, because everything canned is cooked; the same for pasteurized juice. Fresh, frozen, powder or extract wonderful.

But I have a floater that's been bobbin about in the bowl resisting multiple flushes and a prod from the toilet brush…I'm quite proud of it to be honest "Shame I can't show you a photo' I do have a couple" as I said I'm quite proud 💪 but it's getting to the point where the kids are scared if it!   29. These findings are surprising as pineapple fruit contains only micrograms of bromelain which undergoes autolysis. Considering also the eye-blood barrier, extremely low amounts of active enzyme would be expected to reach the vitreous.

  30. I eat very clean and juice a lot. Was craving pineapple juice and yesterday bought and juiced half a pineapple and ate the rest yesterday. This morning NO eye floaters. Then this morning saw this vid. Great confirmation I'm in touch with body needs.

  31. Thank you for your info, I used to have floaters in the past when I was ill, but not any more. I did not know about the pineapple cure, but I do often put fresh pineapple in my smoothies. You could use a bit of help for selecting the pineapple. It is easy to pull a leaf off of a ripe pineapple, and that's a way to know that its ready to eat. The pineapple you have is way too green and too pale from inside. It is not ripe and it will have no flavor.

  32. wtf dont tell me you should put pineapple on your eyes, pineapple eats meat, it can eat your eyes. its good for your throat cos it will eat skin on your throat with all bacteria. due that enzyme people who grab pineapple from fields dont have fingerprints. it eats everything, also is used as meat tenderer

  34. Pineapple has some other health benefits, as it IRREFUTABLY aids digestion, especially with proteins. Bromelain, can be used as a meat tenderizer, but is traditionally used as an after dinner treat in Brazilian cuisine.

I am so glad that science is confirming this, I have more serious issues,(PVD about 2 months ago and then wet AMD about 2 weeks ago) I did not realize the wet AMD because my PVD seemed to be getting better., it was at least peripherally. After diagnosing of the wet AMD, my Eye Doctor applied a 'shot' to my eye, designed to block the VEGF present to prevent it from getting worse. However, since I discovered what the condition was, I will tell you I have been ;'mega'-dosing' on known herbal supplements for eye health.(lutein,zeaxanthin,gingko biloba, and 2 new ones to me-saffron and a combo with Quercetin & Bromelain. RESULTS? unbelievable! to say the least. I have noticed such remarkable improvement in just 2 weeks time, that at this point I expect full recovery..and will maybe have the occasional floater caused by the initial PVD.(blue eyes-corrective vision 5.5 r more) Forget PHARMACEUTICAL companies! please! YOU CANNOT patent natural, and everything I took is natural. Sirach 38.4 the Lord created medicines out of the earth..

  36. Buy a piineapple cutter. You just cut off the top, put the pineapple cutter together, push it down through the pineapple as you twist. Then pull out when you get to the bottom. If you slice straight down all
    the rings that are on the cylinder of your cutter in one place top to bittom, you end up with wonderful cored peeled pineapple slices.

  37. I tried sun gazing to cure myopia (i know) and ended up with a floater that won't go! I can literally focus on mine and it's tinged with brown. Is that bad?

  38. Is it possible for a doctor to see floaters in someone else's eye? If so, I would like to see the study run again with a totally objective measurement of floaters before and after. It might be that people reported fewer floaters just from a placebo effect.

  39. This is interesting. In some of the comments below, collagen is mentioned as a cure. I have been taking powdered collagen for a couple of months now, and I just realized that the storm of floaters I have had for years is nearly all gone. Seriously, my floater concentration was so bad that I had difficulty reading, but as I sit here looking at my white screened monitor on my right, I see only a very few small floaters, literally two or three. Liked and sub'd. Keep up the good work.

  40. I have done this for 5 days so far. I still have floaters but i think it may be improved a little. I will give another update later. I can also say it’s helping in other ways that I wasn’t expecting. I just generally feel a little better. I believe the Bromalain is also good for your digestion.

  42. When I was like 28 when to the eye doctor and she said that I'm going to be getting glaucoma haven't seen another doctor

  43. I was diagnosed about 6 or 7 years ago with very early symptoms of dry macular degeneration. I have been to 3 other opticians who all did thorough eye exams. This year I went to a 4th who said "I dont know why you have been diagnosed with Macular. I see no indication of it." I had been on a Keto diet for the past year…I was wondering if anyone has done research into it? Could it have repaired my macular?

    I have a question for you doctor. I saw your videos on eye floaters and I was wondering if it's nornal to have floaters at 31 years old. Also, is it true that Taurine, Lysine and Gingko Biloba can help for floaters. I saw your video with the research regarding the pineapple. I'll try it for sure. I saw my optometrist and she told me that my retina was alright. She told me that my eyes were in perfect condition. You have to have a vitreous detachment to have floaters, no?

    My last question is, if I take all the above, do you think it will create more floaters?

  46. I went totally blind very suddenly, in one eye, from floaters. My elderly Optometrist (not Ophthalmologist) said he had seen this many times. He said it would clear up in about 30-60 days and that I would suffer a slight but permanent loss of vision. He also said everyone like me went through the same event in the other eye in about one year. I must have been lucky because I've gone more than 5 without. I blame the onset to exposure to strong sonic waves. I had been working on sub-woofers for three days, and was sure I had exceeded OSHA guidelines for safe db levels several times.

  47. Hang on… The methodology in the source study is very shaky- no control group, no placebo group, no double-blind (no pun intended). And when the abstract contains the phrase "The famous, beneficial and delicious pineapples were supplied by the local farmers selling to the world since 1900" shouldn't alarm bells ring? I call quackery, sir.
